TLC ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ Spoilers: Deaths of Bill and Joe Smith
Joe and Bill were in the last season of the show and made quite an impact on TLC viewers. Another reality star that was a friend of the Smiths went onto social media to send his love. Paddy Doherty made a video and said that the death of these men was a “terrible, terrible tragedy.” He also said the brothers were “two angels” and you can see just how torn up he is about their death.
This show did cause a lot of drama within the Romani Gypsy community. The Irish Travellers and the Roma Gypsies are the most well-known of these families. At times, TLC would call the Irish Traveller gypsies Romani Gypsy, which isn’t the case at all. They are all very different. They actually did not cast Romani Gypsies for some of the seasons. This is why all the backlash started.
Some gypsies didn’t like the way that their lives and communities were shown on television and many think this could be one of the reasons that the show did not stay on air very long. No matter what the reasoning, we are very sad about Joe and Bill’s deaths. This is a tragedy and we send love to the families that are involved.
