It has been an eventful week, to say the least for the British Monarchy, with some experts even calling it one of the most disrespectful showings towards to Queen in recent memory. However, Prince Harry will make his first official return to Buckingham Palace next week as he has confirmed that he will still be on hand to draw the teams for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past week, you would be well aware of the hostility that could be facing the Prince as he makes his return. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed over the past week that they would be stepping back from royal duties, and have announced that they will become financially independent.
British Royal News: First Major Appearance
It will be the first time that the Prince will be seen on official duty since the revelation that he and his family will be stepping back. In the announcement, it was also revealed that they would be spending their time between the United Kingdom, and North America.
It is unclear at the moment where they will be spending their time in North America, with both Los Angeles and British Columbia expected to be their likely destinations. The announcement that Harry would be involved in the World Cup draw came just hours before the bombshell was dropped. There is now expected to be a media frenzy around the event.
British Royal News: Harry’s Standing In Rugby League
Prince Harry took over from the Queen as the patron of the Rugby League back in 2016 and even presented the 2019 Challenge Cup. The Duke will be involved in all the draw’s, which includes the men’s, women’s and wheelchair formats of the competition.
Harry’s involvement in the sport will mean that he will also have to be on hand before the draw to mingle with the representatives from the 21 countries involved in the competition.
