British Royal News say that after several hours of talks, Queen Elizabeth has reached a decision. Her Majesty has released a statement that says while the royal family is disappointed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want to carve out their own lives, no one is going to stand in their way. In fact, the Queen has issued an unprecedented statement on the future of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. It appears as though the couple will be splitting their time between the United Kingdom and Canada and that they will no longer rely on public funds.
“Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family,” the queen wrote in a statement. “My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”

“Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives,” the queen added. “It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the U.K. These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”
While many reports indicate that the Queen is definitely disappointed about this move, she did ask Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to hold off from issuing their own statement about their future financial plans. It’s been noted that Meghan Markle plans on staying in Canada for the remainder of the month while Prince Harry does have an official royal engagement in his calendar for next week. Whether or not he will remain in the U.K. remains to be seen.
