Once the fan questions started rolling in, he began to explain the relationship that he and Jill currently have with the Duggars. Derrick also said that when Jim Bob is not at the house, they cannot even go visit. He also said to one fan, “We’re not on 19 Kids and Counting anymore”, hinting that they don’t really have a reason to go visit them anymore. That fan also pointed out to Derrick that 19 Kids and Counting was no longer on. Derrick replied with “I guess if you want to get technical, it does have a different name now.”
Derrick told fans that they had done some guest appearances on the show and it is clear that he is trying to show fans that they left on their own accord even though fans have heard he was fired from the show due to his homophobic and transphobic tweets and comments on social media. He also said that TLC hasn’t reached out to them and they never had a contract. Is he just trying to cover up the reasons that he and Jill left the show?
Finally he wrote, “For a long time, Jill and I were under the impression that the family didn’t make any money from the show, but rather, it was presented to us kids as something that was done as a ministry that TLC periodically subsidized in the form of reimbursements for things like gas, restaurants, travel, etc… But not any actual pay on top of that.”
Jill says that they do still spend time with the whole family, but it is a little harder now that they are not on the show. Fans continue to ask them about the lawsuit that is pending on the family, but they have remained silent about this issue. You can catch up with the Duggars on their social media outlets and blogs.
