‘Days Of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers finds that or those of us not well-educated in the Faith, we’re all kind of scratching our heads at how Lani Price (Sal Stowers) became a nun so quickly. With Kristen DiMera (Stacey Haiduk) it was kind of implied over the years that she was a catholic so her becoming a nun to atone for her many ‘sins’ isn’t that big of a stretch.
However with Lani it’s a bit murkier. Since Lani is kind of newer character (At least by DOOL time, she is, considering lots of characters on there we’ve known for decades.) it’s not really that easy to speculate on what her upbringing might’ve been. After all, her Mom, Tamara Price (Marilyn McCoo) may’ve concieved her with Abe Carver (James Reynolds) but he had no say in her upbringing. So whether Lani was raised catholic, or even confirmed, is up for debate.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: How long does it take to become a catholic?
For a non-catholic it takes about a year to take all the CDC classes to become confirmed in the Catholic Church, one also needs a sponsor. If one is a Catholic and has left the church for any reason other than death, then one has to file a some sort of reconcilliation form to be allowed back in. Also, those classes associated with Catholic conversion take about a year either way, so I am willing to bet just for shorthand’s sake that Lani herself was raised catholic and confirmed at the age of 12, just like all Catholics, adult conversion would simply take too long to be plausible. (Again, unless there is a fast track option that I am not aware of.)

‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Like a what now?
The popular belief is that you have to be a catholic, unmarried virgin in order to become a nun when in fact that is not always the case. It usually depends on the order. Sometimes a widower can become a nun, but divorcees are not permitted to become nuns. Since Lani was never technically married, she is still free to become a nun. But the other thing is unless there was something immaculate about the way Lani’s baby was conceived and they just haven’t told us yet, there is no way Lani’s a virgin.
She’s had a child, she’s given birth, so that would take her out of the running right there. Or would it? Again, if a widower can become a nun why not someone who’s lost a child? Again, it depends on the order. So let’s pretend for one second that she and Kristen both took vows from ‘Our-Lady-of-Second-Chances-on-Foriegn-Lands’.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: In Conclusion
I guess in the end it would all highly depend on the order, but you would think than an order that resides in the vatican would be the most traditional out of all the orders in the world but apparently not so much. I guess they found a hip to the jive, really with it order of the catholic church that realizes that life happens so don’t judge and don’t look too closely because in the end it doesn’t matter if we’re all on the same team, right? At leas that’s how it works in the DOOL-verse. But will Lani stay a nun? Now that she’s ran into Eli… well that one’s up for debate. Stay tuned!!!
