It was a weekend to remember for Julia Goulding as she gave birth to her baby son. She broke the news that she was in labour in an emotional Instagram post that was shared on Sunday afternoon. The actress, who plays Shona Platt in Coronation Street, also revealed that the baby boy would be called Franklin Wolf Silver.
Early Labour For Goulding
She revealed in the post on social media that she was taken in for labour weeks before the expected date. Franklin was born over a week ago on the 30th, but this was the first time that the couple had revealed the news to the fans.
There was great excitement online when the post was made, with many of her Coronation Street co-stars commenting on the post stating that they couldn’t wait to meet the new addition to the family. Jack P Shepherd, who plays her on-screen husband, was the first of the cast to comment, before Lucy Fallon and Kym Marsh later posted their congratulations.
It has been a whirlwind of a year for Goulding and her husband, Ben Silver. The two married only earlier this year with only close friends and family in attendance. However, Goulding will have spare time to focus on her family for the foreseeable future after being taken off television by Coronation Street bosses.
Timely Departure For Goulding
The announcement of their new baby boy comes just days after it was revealed that Shona could be one of the characters that is written off in the Christmas Day shootout between Gary Windass and Derek Milligan.
There are set to be emotional scenes on the cobbles as David is forced to go to the hospital with Shona after the shooting, as he fears that he is set to lose another wife through murder. However, it is unlikely that Shona will be killed off on the street as bosses have revealed that this will be a short hiatus for Goulding.
The bosses have claimed that this will be the biggest test for the couple after they are forced to spend months apart from each other. For a couple that have already overcome a great deal in a short amount of time, this shouldn’t be an obstacle that is too big for them. However, we will have to stay glued to our screens and see how this story plays out in the New Year.
