According to a royal source, Prince William has revealed that he is “not a fan” of his uncle Prince Andrew. The source mentioned that Prince William is becoming increasingly involved with decisions about the monarchy, and that Prince Andrew’s latest scandals has not helped his relationship with his nephew.
The royal source confirmed that the Duke of Cambridge has stated that the decision to remove Prince Andrew from public duties was the right thing to do, as told to the Sunday Times. This follows the increasing pressure that Prince Andrew is facing over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted paedophile.
British Royal News: Prince William reveals his true feelings about Prince Andrew
Last Wednesday, Prince Andrew released an official statement announcing his removal from public life. The statement read: “It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support. Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.”
The news comes after a disastrous interview with BBC Newsnight about his links to Jeffrey Epstein, and about allegations that he had sex with a 17 year old girl. Many people have focused on the Prince’s claim that he was at a Pizza Express restaurant on the same night he was accused of having sex with Virgina Roberts-Giuffre, an alleged sex trafficking victim of Epstein’s paedophile ring. Many of the viewers were surprised that the palace gave it the green light, but it is rumoured that during the ‘son to mother’ outing with
Her Majesty, Prince Andrew did not go into detail about what he was going to discuss during the interview. In a YouGov survey of 1,677 people, 51% of people said that Prince Andrew should remove himself from royal gatherings and events, including Her Majesty’s birthday. 28% said he should continue being seen, and 21% said they were unsure.
Prince Andrew has, however, received support from his former wife Sarah Ferguson, the duchess of York, and daughter Princess Beatrice. A source confirms that Sarah has been eager to end the speculation about Prince Andrew’s links to Epstein ahead of Princess Beatrice’s wedding next year. The Duchess of York has since posted on social media, defending him by saying “Andrew is a true and real gentleman and he is stoically steadfast to not only his duty, but also his kindness and goodness of always seeing the best in people.”
