Welcome to Plathville Spoilers: Kim’s Loss of a Child
Kim Plath has a lot on her mind with raising nine children, but in 2008 she had a terrible moment in her life. She accidentally ran over her child and killed him. Joshua, who was 17 months old at the time of the accident, is the missing Plath child and Kim recollected about it recently and how hard it was on her. She was also pregnant at the time of the accident! Even though it was about ten years ago, this accident has hit her really hard and it has been tough on her ever since.
Welcome to Plathville Spoilers: The Tragedy that Almost Ruined Kim’s Faith
Barry and Kim say that this tragedy really took its toll on their life and relationship. Kim said that Barry stood by her the entire way. On the day of the accident, Joshua ended up at the front end of the car while Kim was driving through the fruit trees at the farm. When she realized what had happened, she said she was horrified and it took a toll on her.
Kim told TLC that the death of a child is something that changes everything. She said that there was a point in her life where she just “checked out” and became withdrawn. She said that she had no will to live and began to really question her faith as a Christian as well.
We are not sure if the restrictions on the family started before Joshua’s death or if this is something that Kim started after the accident. No matter what, the Plath children do live a strict life and it is Kim and Barry’s choice to raise them this way.
