A source said: “Tina’s a definite favorite for viewers and bosses have big plans for her.”
Coronation Street Spoilers: Positive Casting News
The news would have come as a breath of fresh air for the show’s bosses as it was recently revealed that Tina’s on-screen daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon) would soon be leaving the soap.
The source added: “It is a shame that Lucy is breaking up the family, but she feels it is time to move on. Tina, however, is going nowhere. “The executives are well-aware that they need some glamour in the show and Tina was offered a new deal at the earliest opportunity.”
Fallon has been one of the breakout stars from Corrie over the past couple of years for her portray of sexual abuse survivor Bethany. During this time she has won the Best Actress accolade at the British Soap Awards.
Coronation Street Spoilers: Departing Corrie Stars
O’Brien returned to the show at the same time as Fallon, but it would seem that they are both going in their opposite directions in the New Year. One of the factors behind the departure of Fallon centres around the rule that the soap stars can’t be paid to endorse products. That same rule was one of the crucial elements that led to the departures of Michelle Keegan, Ryan Thomas and Katie McGlynn. The new contract signing would also be a boost for Corrie, who are going to lose Kym Marsh and Tristan Gemmill over the coming months.
Tina will, however, be staying on the street, and there looks to be a host of juicy storylines approaching involving her. She is a crucial element in the Underworld factory, and she also has her love-life with Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) to think about. Coronation Street have already teased that the ongoing feud between Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Adam is set to continue and Sarah will be playing a big part in that.
