‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) has been out of sight lately, but it seems he’s not being idle. What’s going with this elusive character, and are we in for some changes? Here’s what you need to know.
‘General Hospital’ spoilers: MIA
Spencer hasn’t been seen in a long time, even though he’s gotten numerous mentions. The last time we saw the character, he was visiting following Dante Falconeri’s (Dominic Zamprogna) ill-fated return. This was marked by some tension with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), but what else is new, right? Before he left again, the threat of exposing his election tampering hung over Spencer’s head.
‘General Hospital’ spoilers: Off-screen puppet master?
While the character hasn’t been seen much, he certainly hasn’t been forgotten. He’s supposedly away at boarding school, and Laura Webber (Genie Francis) had expressed concern that he might be a part of the Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig)/Jasper Jacks (Ingo Rademacher)/Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) search for an important document. One that could be key in destroying Valentin and return the Cassadine estate to its rightful heir.
There are definitely hints that Laura doesn’t believe he’s innocent, but if Spencer is involved, he’s not stopping there. He also recently sent a gift to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) to congratulate her for kicking Valentin to the curb, something that is kicking their feud up a notch. It seems inevitable that Spencer will return to face off with his nemesis. While Laura Webber is supposed to keep him on a short leash, we’re predicting that Spencer will throw a couple more things Valentin’s way before we see him again.
‘General Hospital’ spoilers: Change to come?
We’ve feared a Spencer casting change for a while for a few reasons. One, the strong hinting that Spencer might be involved in the codicil search. Then there was the booze delivery to Nina. Add to that, Laura had made reference a while back about how much Spencer’s grown. It might make sense for them to age the character some to have him around more, plus make the war between him and Valentin a little less embarrassing for Valentin. After all, he’s a grown man getting owned by a kid.
Valentin seems to hint at this change as well, as he alludes to Spencer becoming more of a threat as he ages. This would allow for them to push this feud to levels they can’t quite accomplish with a younger actor. Will they actually go there? We’re hoping not, but we’ll keep you posted on any news that develops. Whether they do or not, we’re sure we can count on more Spencer in the near future.
