Your Tuesday, July 23rd La Reina del Sur recap finds Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo) getting a huge surprise as she prepares for war. We also have Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) in a bit of a dilemma. If you missed it, let’s catch you up on your La Reina del Sur spoilers.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Novios
Jonathan Peres (Tiago Correa) gives Ray Dávila (Alejandro Speitzer) some friendly ribbing after watching a very drunk Danilo Márquez (Emannuel Orenday) getting into the idea of a little side action. Before Ray is forced to get too into the role he’s been playing, Danilo passes out.
Jonathan comes out of hiding to help search over Ray, teasing Ray the whole time. They eventually figure that the guy’s likely ignorant of who he’s gotten involved with. Before they carry out the next part of the plan, Ray calls Jimena Montes (María Camila Giraldo) to set up a meeting.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Surprise
Meanwhile, Teresa, Sheila (Cuca Escribano), and Francesco Belmondo (Raoul Bova) arrive at the home of César “Batman” Güemes (Alejandro Calva). He has something to discuss with her, and Teresa wants him to hurry up, because she hasn’t got much time.
It’s about Oleg Yasikov (Antonio Gil). As he steps into the room, Teresa is overcome with emotion at knowing he’s alive, but she also feels guilty for leaving him there like she did. Oleg assures her that she did exactly what he asked—the only thing she could do.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Patience
The meeting is marked with a bit of a conflict. They spill the entire plot to Batman, including Sofia Dantes’ (Isabella Sierra) survival. She threatens to shoot him where it hurts if Epifanio or Alejandro Alcalá (Mark Tacher) learn the kid’s alive.
Batman’s obliged to go with it, and is happy Sofia’s alive. He grew to love her. What he doesn’t love is the idea of having support Epifanio. He goes off on an impressive rant about his dead family and the blood of Epifanio allowing them to rest in peace.
Teresa pleads with him to trust her for now and have patience. She swears on her life that Epifanio will pay for everything, but the more pressing issue is Alejandro.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Conflicted
After confronting Alejandro about not hearing from Teresa and how the man is hiding things from him, Epifanio looks appeased by Alejandro’s explanations for not telling him that Teresa had called. He’s trying to protect Epifanio from hearing constant threats.
Later, we see Epifanio doesn’t look totally convinced. As he drinks, he goes back and forth between flashbacks of his talks with both Alejandro and Teresa. He’s clearly tortured, but we’re having a Betty En NY situation right now, in that we just can’t care about his pain. He’s getting what he deserves for even allowing that kidnapping plot.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Tracking the prey
Zurdo Villa (Flavio Medina) isn’t going to go away quietly after “escaping” the military. He wants to Teresa to pay three times over for her betrayals.
He tracks her, using the device that was implanted in her foot, to a building where they’re keeping Danilo. She, Ray, Francesco, and Jonathan find out that Zurdo has arrived and they need to get into battle mode.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Fashion show
While all that’s going on, Sofia is making Cayetana Segovia (Luisa Gavasa) a new woman. Besides a new red dress, she changes Cayetana’s hair as well. She’s convinced that this will help Cayetana get out and meet people again. Please don’t be setting us up for a tragic lesson for Cayetana, as she seems to really be opening up now, thanks to Sofia.
