Your Friday, July 19th La Reina del Sur recap finds Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo) giving Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) a friendly warning, Danilo being targeted by Ray Dávila (Alejandro Speitzer), and Cayetana Segovia (Luisa Gavasa) making possibly the dumbest move yet. If you missed all the La Reina del Sur spoilers, let’s catch up.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: No confĂo en ti
Teresa may have saved Francesco Belmondo’s (Raoul Bova) skin last time, but that doesn’t mean he’s off the hook.
As he asks about Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra), Teresa reminds him that he’s nothing more than her daughter’s kidnapper. She doesn’t trust him still, but we sense some tension still between this pair. We’re calling a potential reconciliation before this is all said and done.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Celebration
Meanwhile, Epifanio is celebrating the news of Zudro Villa’s (Flavio Medina) confession. He’s trying to get in touch with Alejandro Alcalá (Mark Tacher) to pass along the news, but he notes this guy is never reachable when there’s good news to celebrate.
Later, he is greeted to tons of cheers from an appreciative audience as he promises an end to the corruption once he’s president. Right. Yeah, that’s a no on two counts, Epi, but you’ll find that out in a minute…
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Friendly warning
After he gets off the stage, he’s a bit nervous going through this huge crowd on the ground, but he did ask for more face time with the people.
He’s stunned when Teresa herself approaches him and insists on speaking privately. When they reach a bookstore, Epi can’t even. He yells at Teresa for showing her face like that, as a picture of the two of them together will sink him. Teresa basically tells him that’s the least of his problems right now.
After almost getting busted together by Alejandro, she leads him into a back room where she tells him that they’re both just puppets in a bigger plot, and he’s going to be replaced. Epi is confused and shocked, but they don’t have time to get into it right now, because Alejandro is knocking at the door. Epi slips out and grumbles to Alejandro about not even getting a minute alone.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: PerdĂłn
Today Cayetana is showing Sofia the big land that will soon be hers. Sofia asks about her half-sisters, but Cayetana says they are no longer Aljarafes, as they took Teresa’s side.
Sofia shows a lot of smarts and wisdom by telling Cayetana she’s a charming, generous woman who shouldn’t be allowing herself to be poisoned by hate. God wants people to forgive, and that’s what Cayetana needs to do. Go, girl. We knew you were the smartest one in that house.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Target?
Before Alejandro makes his return to Mexico, he’d been having a meal with Danilo Márquez (Emannuel Orenday). He eventually bows out, citing campaign issues and other such things. He needs to go, but he wants Danilo to remain in Washington. Danilo argues against it, but Alejandro puts his foot down.
A little later, Ray approaches Danilo and chats him up. They end up making a plan to meet at a gay club. Hmm… Ray also mentioned earlier to Teresa that he’s learned Jimena Montes (MarĂa Camila Giraldo) is Epi’s nieta and they’d planned to use that to get close. Looks like he may be pulling double duty.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Revenge of the gypsy?
Sofia proves her smarts later (and Cayetana proves her stupidity) with a shopping trip. Sofia points out that she shouldn’t be out and about like this, as her mother warned her against public outings. Cayetana waves the concern away and insists of going into more stores with her granddaughter.
While they’re looking at a dress for Cayetana (Sofia thinks she needs to look less solemn), Triana (Aroha Hafez) reappears after a long absence. She’s watching Cayetana and Sofia through the shop window.
After the pair leaves, Triana enters the store and pretends to be looking for a child’s outfit, but the employee informs her that only women’s clothes are sold there. The old lady and child Triana mentions were looking at a dress for the elder one, the girl’s grandmother. Triana thinks it’s nice that an abuela is shopping with her nieta. Of course, she’s really just gathering intel to get revenge after her son’s death and the humiliation she faced at Teresa’s hands.
