Your Wednesday, July 17th La Reina del Sur recap finds the pressure on Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo) heating up, while she gives Francesco Belmondo (Raoul Bova) a task. If you missed the action, let’s catch up on your La Reina del Sur spoilers.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Prove yourself
Teresa isn’t pleased when Francesco calls her to see how Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra) is. She once more takes him to task for being a kidnapper, a liar, and a mercenary. She doesn’t trust him, and she warns him not to even think about finding Sofia.
Francesco is desperate to prove himself, and he promises to do anything she asks to accomplish that. Her demand? Turn Manuela (Paola Núñez) over to her. She knows she is never going to be safe, or have any chance of peace so long as Manuela, Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita), and Zurdo Villa (Flavio Medina) are on the loose. Will he do this? We’ll see…
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Yaya
Meanwhile, Sofia is spending a little quality time with Cayetana Segovia (Luisa Gavasa). Cayetana is showing off a picture of Teo Aljarafe (Miguel de Miguel) and telling some stories. Of course, she also has to get in some digs about his murder. Sofia begs out of any further conversation, as her mom asked her not to discuss him with her abuela (or yaya, as Cayetana says that kids call grandmothers there).
Cayetana also has a bright idea to take Sofia out shopping (alone) to get some clothes of her very own. Right now, she’s wearing Paloma Aljarafe’s (Agata Herranz) hand-me-downs. Sofia proves she’s way more sensible than Yaya by telling her that’s impossible. Her mom warned her not to go out at all, because it could expose that she’s alive. After another minor disagreement over Sofia wanting to have her cat sent there (Cayetana doesn’t want one in her house), Cayetana changes the subject and brings Sofia downstairs for lunch.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: It’s war
Things are not going very well in Epifanio’s world. Not only is he still freaking out about Teresa’s silence, but Genoveva Alcalá (Kika Edgar) is very pregnant and very testy. She’s nagging up a storm, saying that he has changed since the capture of Zurdo.
Things gets worse when she spots the “kill the messenger” message in Alejandro Alcalá’s (Mark Tacher) notebook. She questions him about it, wondering if he’s planning to blame her for something.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Find her
Zurdo is still very much alive and extremely vengeful. When Lorenzo de Jesus Gonzalez Carillo (Roberto Abraham Wohlmuth) arrives to check on him, he brings news that Teresa has a tracker their people hacked. He’s positive it’s in her skin, so it can’t easily be taken off. He asks Lencho what he’s waiting for, then, and orders him to go get her.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Meeting the family
Ray Davilá (Alejandro Speitzer) gets a big surprise when he shows up for dinner with Jimena Montes (María Camila Giraldo), Virginia Vargas (Vera Mercado), and Carmen Martínez (Patricia Reyes Spíndola) when Epifanio crashes the party. Despite Carmen making it clear he’s not welcome, he’s happy to sit and chat up the new guy in Jimena’s life, despite the death glares Ray is giving. Some political talk makes it worse. Making sure not to give away any info about his true identity and connection to Teresa, he tells Epifanio off and says he’ll vote for the competition. Carmen is loving him already, while Jimena is angry at Epifanio for messing up the evening. Epifanio, of course, just assumed he’s a brainwashed supporter of his opposition.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Escape
After Ray leaves the house, Jimena and Carmen both come out to apologize. Their conversation is interrupted by an alert on his watch. He excuses himself to check on the house Team Teresa is staying at, who’ve been warned by him to hide.
The danger is soon over, but the problem isn’t. Teresa orders them all to immediately grab their things and get out of the house. It’s not safe anymore.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Back to DC
During a meeting of the DEA operatives, Francesco puts his plan to follow Teresa’s orders into action. He asks her to meet him for food, to which she agrees.
Later on, they’re chatting about spicy food while Teresa watches. All of a sudden, a bunch of armed men come along and hold Francesco at gunpoint. She informs him they have orders to “kill the messenger”, and his ploy didn’t work. They know he’s been on Teresa’s side now.
He gets tasered, then taken to a DEA plane that will bring him back to DC. They’re determined to get answers out of him. Teresa is watching all this from a distance.
