La Reina del Sur spoilers for Tuesday, June 25th reveal a time jump that brings Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo) closer than ever to bringing down Zurdo Villa (Flavio Medina), Stockholm syndrome for Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra), good news for Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) ahead of the debates, and distrust from Ceaser “Batman” Guemes (Alejandro Calva). If you missed it, let’s catch you up in your La Reina del Sur recap.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Good news
So, it turns out that Genoveva Alcalá (Kika Edgar) didn’t pass out because of illness. She’s actually pregnant. Epifanio is thrilled, and thinks it’s the best wedding present ever. Wow. How about that? The guy actually does have a good side hidden somewhere deep down.
Months later, he’s getting ready to leave for a campaign thing when he sees she’s upset. She admits to having a nightmare that the pregnancy thing was all a mistake, then points out how she and her ex tried a lot and never managed to have a baby. That, plus her age, has her worrying that something will go wrong. Epifanio thinks that’s crazy talk, because the kid is a Vargas and is tough.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Stokholm Syndrome
After months of being held by Francesco Belmondo (Raoul Bova) and the others, she is shocked and saddened to learn that she’s gotta start packing. Francesco’s gotten word that Teresa is about to complete her mission, and that means Sofia is going home.
Later on, she suggests that she hide the truth about her kidnapper’s identity so that he and Teresa can get married. That is, once she’s dumped Pedro (Aitor Luna), who Sofia doesn’t know is dead. He’s not going to have it, as he tells her children shouldn’t lie to their parents like that.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Debate lies
The Mexican Presidential debates are on, and Epifanio has showed up in his full glory. He promises on stage that he’ll be the one to fight corruption and bring truth to light. Right. Says every politician ever. Accomplished by no politician ever. Especially one that kidnaps kids to get someone to take out political opponents. Or those who lie about their abandoned spouses, set their granddaughter up for murder, etc…
Speaking of corruption, a big campaign infusion was promised be Alejandro. The “donor” is actually Alejandro, who gets Manuela (Paola Núñez) to steal all the money that Teresa and the others have been building up. Money that someone else (Ray Dávila, played by Alejandro Speitzer) has already stolen a bit of.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Time jump
After months of working alongside Zurdo, Teresa is now ready to reach the finish line. To that end, she has a tracking device implanted into her foot and is given one to put in Zurdo’s phone. Given what happened before, she’s a little nervous about them being detected, but Ray assures her that’s impossible. Exactly what he said last time, which isn’t very assuring to Teresa.
Meanwhile, Sheila has finally gotten close to Ceaser “Batman” Guemes and is starting to ask questions. He, not being as stupid as he seems at times, realizes that this is her way of trying to learn Sofia’s whereabouts. He takes off in a huff, leaving her behind to wonder how she screwed that up.
Now that Teresa has put herself into a good position and knows all Zurdo’s secrets, she arranges a meeting with Epifanio to turn over intel on where Zurdo will be and when. But, he’s only going to get it if he turns her daughter over at the same time.
