La Reina del Sur spoilers for Monday, June 24th reveal more of Teresa Mendoza’s (Kate del Castillo) soft side, some surprises with Zurdo Villa (Flavio Medina), a move to neutralize Cayetana Segovia (Luisa Gavasa), the big wedding, and changes with Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra). If you missed it, let’s catch you up in your La Reina del Sur recap.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Wedding drama/Murder?
It’s the big day for Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) and Genoveva Alcalá (Kika Edgar). To make sure things stay in their favor this close to the election, the media is informed everything that is published about the event must be approved first.
After the deed is done, the happy couple is toasting each other (with the grudging approval of her father) when Genoveva suddenly passes out in front of everyone. And we can’t with how fast people pull out the cameras to document this emergency.
Elsewhere, Carmen is getting ready to sneak out to the big event when she discovers all the doors are blocked. Virginia Vargas (Vera Mercado) comes along and catches her, which leads to Carmen accusing her daughter of preventing her from going to the wedding. Virginia had nothing to do with this, and is confused as to what is going on. We see Manuela (Paola Núñez) messing with something at the building before driving off.
Everything’s good, though, because Jonathan Peres (Tiago Correa) has been keeping an eye on them and saw the whole thing. Once Manuela is out of the way, he manages to break in and get them out. Not before warning the pair they’d been locked in by an expert assassin. She even left them without phone or internet service. He also advises them to get as far from here as possible to save themselves from this potential murder plot. The pair decides to head to Culiacán to stay with Jimena Montes (María Camila Giraldo). He reminds them both to say nothing about him to anyone.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Hero worship
Sofia is feeling the Francesco love after learning he saved Teresa from the Turks who wanted to kill her. Se even calls him a superhero after having overheard a message Teresa left for him. He admits that it’s all true, and Sofia thinks that will be a point in his favor when Teresa learns the truth. Francesco offers her the chance to make a video for Teresa, which she goes for.
The video she leaves promises that she had a great birthday and the next one will be spent together at the beach, like always.
Despite all this, Sofia has gotten used to her situation and looks at Francesco as a father figure.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: New “guests”
Cayetana should’ve learned her lesson by now. After telling Teresa she’s going to deliver the court order to the embassy, it’s time for some desperate measures to save the operation, and keep Sofia with Teresa once it’s done.
To accomplish this, Oleg Yasikov (Antonio Gil) poses as a driver that is going to take Cayetana and Charo (Carmen Flores Sandoval) to the embassy and airport. While driving, he reveals himself and Cayetana attacks. He manages to get her under control, then holds both women at gunpoint. Later, he brings them both to a secret part of the club they’re using as a front. They’ll stay there under guard until Teresa’s job is done. Everyone is warned that any attempt to help the women leave will be seen as a betrayal against Teresa.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Counting lucky stars
Teresa gets a big surprise today. At Zurdo’s place, she meets Mariano Bravo (Eduardo Santamarina), the man she’s supposed to keep from winning this election. She puts on the charm and even wishes him a lot of luck with the campaign, but Mariano believes that luck has nothing to do with it. It’s about money. They’re going to be putting a ton of it into the campaign, thanks to the business she and Zurdo will be doing.
Later on, she is thanking her lucky stars. Teresa, having earned his trust, is going to get a special tour of his place as well as the inner workings of his organization. What she learns shakes her.
It seems that Mr. Villa has a vast array of tech at his disposal that is making her wonder how they haven’t been discovered yet. The information serves to make her and Oleg proceed with more caution going forward, and she knows now where Zurdo stores all his info. Plus, she knows who is in charge of it should anything go wrong.
While they talk, we get insight into Teresa’s soft side. She doesn’t want to do this, and she doesn’t believe that Zurdo deserves her betrayal. Oleg reminds her of what’s at stake, and she tells him she hasn’t changed her mind on anything—it’s him or her daughter.
