La Reina del Sur spoilers for Tuesday, June 4th involve Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo) proving why she’s the smartest one in the room, while our Queen-in-training, Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra) confronts Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita) and puts a new plan into motion. If you missed the fun, let’s get to your La Reina del Sur recap.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Misogynist’s karma
Last we see Teresa, she, Sheila (Cuca Escribano), and Marcela “La Conejo” (Carmen Navarro), were facing off against Los Pernas. Siso and his primos are without ammo after Teresa baited them into a shootout. She’s still got plenty, but she’s not going to use it. She has a much better idea. After saying he’s just angry a woman is better than he is, she promises this will be the second-to-last time they see each other before locking the men into the warehouse. She and her co-conspirators leave, and Teresa prepares for the next part of this op.
The plan involves a van full of stolen merch being driven into the building. The plan hits a slight problem when Ray Dávila (Alejandro Speitzer) asks to be the driver. He wants to redeem himself after the mess up that almost got Teresa killed at Zurdo’s mansion. Oleg Yasikov (Antonio Gil) isn’t a fan of that idea, and thinks los Pernas are too dangerous for that. He wants to stick with the plan as written. He and Teresa discuss it, then allow Ray to do the job.
Los Pernas are furious and looking for an escape route when Ray arrives. They approach him and commandeer the vehicle, but the engine won’t start up now. After threatening Ray and ordering him to get to work fixing it, Ray gets the signal and repairs the sabotage almost right away. He leaves the men to the van, then races to the rest of the group when they drive out.
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Failure means death
At Zurdo Villa’s (Flavio Medina) place, he’s learned that his cronies have lost a bunch of merch on the road. He wants to know how on earth they managed to lose anything when they were driving a truck, and doubts some Spiderman-type person somehow got in under their noses. He really doesn’t know Teresa as well as he thinks he does. Anyway, he’s furious and wants their heads. Literally. He’s pointing a gun at them and demanding to know who wants to die first when Teresa arrives unannounced. He’s thrilled at her visit, but surprised he got no warning. Teresa tells him that she’s got contacts everywhere, important ones, and she’s learned of his loss. What’s more, she knows exactly who took it. She’ll tell him who, for a price. He agrees to her terms and she tells him it was Siso Pernas (Miguel Ángel Blanco). He doesn’t believe her contacts at all, as he’s done business with him before. This could go bad…
Luckily for Teresa, Faustino Sánchez Godoy (Lincoln Palomeque) has no love for Los Pernas. He also has been cheated by them before, and thinks Siso is not the man his father was. This confirmation helps Zurdo to trust this story more, and it seems his minions may live to see another day. Unless he has them killed while he, Teresa, Faustino, and some of his guys are confronting the supposed thieves.
The “broken” van stall works well, as los Pernas end up getting surrounded by Zurdo’s men later on. He wants to know what they’re doing here without being told first. It’s a courtesy, after all. He believes they didn’t want him to know for some reason. Siso and his primos are smelling trouble, but Zurdo is in no mood to listen to any of their stories, nor hear any disrespect toward Teresa. He orders a couple of his guys to open the van, where (surprise) the missing merch is. Guess someone might not be around much longer…
La Reina del Sur spoilers: Kidnapper’s Island snark
Epifanio has decided to accompany César “Batman” Güemes’ (Alejandro Calva) to the Island they’re keeping Sofia at. He apparently wasn’t aware of the fact Sofia was a free-range hostage, and Sofia takes full advantage of that today. She confronts the guy and calls him a corrupt politician, then accuses him of being in cahoots with her mother. She’d read everything about him when she was free for a time, and saw his poster all over Mexico City. Epifanio thinks she’s got spunk and verbally spars a bit, but after Sofia gets chased away, he questions whether or not Sofia will be going back to mom after all. Fancesco Belmondo (Raoul Bova) seems to take exception to that idea, and calls him out on it before Epifanio leaves.
Inside the house, Sofia is still fuming about her situation and her mom’s part in it when she seems to get a burst of inspiration. She runs to a cabinet and pulls out a bottle of booze, opens it, then empties the contents into a sink. When Francesco comes back inside, Sofia is nowhere to be found.
