‘General Hospital’ (GH) Spoilers indicates there’s a lot of opinions going around about Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna). At least two characters have gotten deeply involved in the drama surrounding him and wife Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan). However, the character’s wishes to reunite the pair might not be that simple. Here’s what you need to know.
‘General Hospital’ Spoiler : Why it’s decision time for Dante Falconeri
General Hospital spoilers: Turkish adventure
Having not been around a while, due to a mission to take down an enemy, his nearest and dearest decided that was enough. Recently, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) decided to take matters into his own hands. With Dante’s love recuperating from Ryan Chamberlain’s (Jon Lindstrom) attack, he tracked Dante down in Turkey and went to retrieve his son.
When Sonny found him, Dante ended up having to pretend to shoot his own father in order to save Sonny and keep his own cover. Later, Sonny had revealed why he came and the pair hatched a plan to get back to Port Charles.
While they left safely (and with the enemy gone), things were about to get worse.
General Hospital spoilers: Dangerous Man
Despite a joyful reunion with the love of his life, Dante wasn’t quite himself. Eventually, the down mood and feelings of not fitting in gave way to a dangerous side. Dante was suffering from PTSD and programming that had him imagining murdering Lulu. To protect his wife and son, he ultimately made the decision to seek WSB treatment and left again.
General Hospital spoilers: The stupid is strong
Following Dante’s decision to submit to WSB treatment and distance himself from those he loves, meddling soon began. Most notably, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). Now, we love Maxie. Let’s just get that out of the way now. Still, we’re fighting the itch in our slapping hands every time she brings up Dante.
For some reason, she’s got it in her head that Lulu and Dante must be together. She wants to even bring him back from wherever the WSB is hiding him so that he can be with his family again. She thinks he needs it to heal. This is so problematic for a couple of reasons. One, Dante himself chose to remove himself from this situation for his family’s safety. A man who’s been without his family for so long making that choice should not be taken lightly. Two, PTSD (especially on the level Dante is experiencing) and brainwashing are not to be fooled around with. This isn’t something that can be easily overcome with familiar surroundings and loved ones—especially one said patient has imagine killing more than once.
Even Laura Webber (Genie Francis) is on the “get Dante back” train. Strange, since she nearly lost her daughter recently. Seems she’d be a little more cautious, especially being an advocate for mental health. Still, despite their seeming lapse in judgment, they do speak for the audience when they seem to say enough is enough.
General Hospital Spoilers: It’s time
While the character has valid reasons for being away, the show’s seeming insistence that he be back says something needs to be done to put this story behind us once and for all. This leaves a couple of choices. One is to kill off the character, which would lead to some interesting material for Emme. Still, this is obviously not a route a lot of fans would choose, nor to the writers seem to want to go there. That leaves only one way to take Lulu out of this limbo she’s in: recasting.
In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, Dominic spoke about not wanting to take the easy way out by returning to the show. He wants to challenge himself and try new things. So, at some point the show is going to have to deal with this by a recast (at least, temporarily). If they’re not going to do either option, it might be time to find something big to occupy Lulu’s screen time and stop the constant talk about how they need him back.
