La Reina Del Sur 2 Recap 5/3/2019: Season 2, Episode 9 “Señor presidente” (Mr. President)
Taking precautions
Rocio Aljarafe (Sara Vidorreta) isn’t playing after Cayetana Aljarafe (Luisa Gavasa) burned Paloma Aljarafe’s (Agata Herranz) clothes. She packs a bag, and Cayetana wants to know if she’s moving out. She says she’s not going anywhere willingly, but her clothes are going to a safe place. She jokes about heading to the 5th circle of Hell after and asks if Cayetana wants to join her. They bicker back and forth about Teo Aljarafe (Miguel de Miguel), Paloma, and Eugenia Montijo (the girls’ mother, played by Nerea Garmendia is season 1).
Cayetana thought she was nothing but trash whose trap her son fell into. She thinks the only good thing Eugenia ever did was kill herself and that tells Rocio to tell her mother she hopes Eugenia is roasting in Hell if Rocio gets into contact with her during the Satanic rituals Rocio was joking about. Damn. This family is harsh.
We find out how much so later, as Rocio and Paloma meet for lunch. Rocio is fuming at her sister being raped and marveling at how Paloma has left one bad situation for another when the bill comes. Paloma tries to pay, but her card’s declined. Rocio hands over hers and gets the same result. They scramble to get the cash together while fuming over Cayetana cutting off their cards.
La Reina del Sur 2: Unwelcome Company
La Conejo (Marcela) is being held captive by Siso Pernas (Miguel Ángel Blanco) and company, who want info on Teresa Mendoza (Kate del Castillo). She swears that she hasn’t heard from Teresa for years. She’s saved from getting offed when Fermin, her boyfriend comes in. The thugs assume he’s her son, but she corrects them. They threaten to cut him up if she doesn’t talk and Marcela eventually crumbles under the pressure and lies. She says Teresa called her, and she’s supposed to be coming by. In fact, she should be there already. They’re not impressed and almost cut the boyfriend before she begs to be able to call Teresa. Instead she calls 911 and pretends to be talking to Teresa, which the operator catches on to. She hangs up with 911 and pretends to make another effort to get in contact with Teresa. While they wait, Marcela is boiling some water and uses it to escape the thugs after Siso takes the phone and finds out she called the police. The Pernas take off when the sirens sound, leaving both their targets alive. She says that she’s going to have to explain some stuff about the past after the cops are gone.

La Reina del Sur: Big mouths
Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra) decides to go back down to the cellar she was being kept in and sees that Franceso Belmondo (Raoul Bova) has added stuff to her drawing. She’s surprised to know he can draw, but he says he’s not as talented. He’s there to let her know that he’ll have to go out of town for a while and to behave for Morgana (Norma Angélica). She wants to go with because she thinks he’s going to see her mother, and gets angry when he says no.
Morgana comes up and Sofia says she wants her to just leave the stuff there and let her do it so she doesn’t have to see her witch face. Morgana ain’t having it, because she doesn’t want to risk the kid getting sick. She tells Sofia to get out of her sight.
Outside the room, César “Batman” Güemes (Alejandro Calva) is there and wants to know about Sofia’s past stunts. He thinks the daughter of anyone who’d kill their child’s father must’ve been traumatized. Sofia is listening with a cup and looks upset.
Later, Sofia asks Morgana if Teresa killed her father. Morgana just asks, “What do you think?” and smirks as she leaves. Sofia bursts into tears, while we’re totally counting down the minutes until la bruja está muerta.
La Reina del Sur 2: Change of plan
Now that Teresa has rested, Oleg is ready to begin their plan. He asks more about what happened, and she says that all she knows is somehow Cayetana found out where she is. He takes her with him in his car when he goes to meet the president to ask permission to leave the country. He says he can’t take her in the Kremlin with him, but he wants her to meet him in an hour. Teresa catches sight of someone following her and snaps a picture before the guy runs off.
After the meeting, Oleg has to give Teresa some bad news. He’s not going to be allowed to leave. If he does, he’ll be considered a traitor. They’re both well-aware of what that will mean, so she vows to fight and get her daughter back on her own. She warns him she was being watched, and he blames himself for putting her on the radar of people who consider her a threat.
After confirming the car they’re traveling in is being followed with some fancy moves, they lose the pursuer long enough to ambush them and a gun fight breaks out that leaves several dead—except the one who comes behind them and grabs Teresa, forcing Oleg to drop his weapon.
