Wednesday, May 8 Days of Our Lives recap reveals a lot of broken bonds as Salem mourns the loss of Holly Jonas. If you missed all the action, catch up with today’s Days of Our Lives recap.
Days of Our Lives Recap Wednesday, May 8: Mission Accomplished For Ted, Rafe Loses Job, Girlfriend, Everything – Swindling Trickster Swoops In For Kill As Hope Cries On His Shoulder!
Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) have been on shaky ground recently, and the “death” of Holly might just prove to be the final blow. Once things have settled down at the crash site, Hope and Rafe get into it. She is furious that he disobeyed her orders, despite being clear about how things were going down.
Rafe explains that he had a gut hunch, and how things turned out will haunt him forever, but Hope isn’t impressed. She’s more disappointed in him and possibly being reminded of her own loss. She puts him on immediate suspension and collects his badge and gun. Before she leaves the scene, he stops her and says that their marriage is obviously not working. He thinks their trial separation needs to permanent.

Days of Our Lives spoilers: Broken beyond repair?
Later on, Hope almost catches Ted Laurent (Gilles Marini) and Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) together. Apparently, Xander altered some plans after being alerted by Ted that Rafe was following him. Ted’s relieved to know that the bodies found were people who were already dead, but he is still not comfortable with things and wants to know who the boss is.
Xander says Julie Williams is the one behind this, as she is tired of Chloe always leaving her hanging at work. We don’t buy that any more than Ted appears to. Despite the misgivings, he’ll still take his payment and seems to enjoy the idea this will surely destroy Hope and Rafe. Guess those scruples about kidnapping don’t mean so much if there’s a (stupid) woman to maybe take advantage of.
Also suffering today is the union between Maggie and Victor Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers and John Aniston). She had interrupted a talk between Victor and Kate DiMera (Lauren Koslow) to break the news about Holly. She’s not happy with Victor right now. She basically blames him for the tragedy, because he wouldn’t allow them to stay. He corrects her, saying he was fine with the kids being there, but Maggie doesn’t care.
He didn’t take her opinion on things into consideration and knew there was no way Chloe would leave her kids at Casa Kiriakis. Kate jumps in and claims that if Chloe was such a great mother, she would have put the kids’ security first. She also calls Maggie out for siding with a “slut” over her husband, and this is where Victor steps in and tells Kate that’s enough.

Maggie’s grateful for the defense, but disappointed when Victor declines to go home with her. He’d rather stay right where he is and have one more drink. Maggie later enters Casa Kiriakis and almost has a breakdown over a glass of booze before pouring the untouched liquid back into the bottle and leaving again.
Days of Our Lives spoilers: Motivated by tragedy
Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) have the very unenviable task of breaking the news to Chloe and Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) after getting a call about the accident. Chloe immediately blames herself, but when Ben and Ciara are alone in his quarters, he thinks he’s at fault. He failed at his duty to protect them, but Ciara wants none of that. She says he was one man against a cartel and did the best he could. While he’s obviously not going to be assuaged that easily, it does seem to help Ben a bit. What’s more, this whole tragedy has him thinking about his nephew. He knows no judge would ever allow him to have custody, but he feels like he’s abandoned this kid who is part of his family. He feels like he needs to at least be some part of the kid’s life, and Ciara promises to talk to Rafe about it.
Days of Our Lives spoilers: A mother’s rage
The Hernandez and Kiriakis marriages might not be the only casualty here. Back at Eric Brady’s (Greg Vaughan) apartment, Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) is still reeling from her loss and wants answers. Like, how Holly ended up in the hands of Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) when she’d made it clear Eric was her choice for guardian. She calms down a bit when she learns about the letter that came, having completely forgotten she’d written it. But she’s still not cool with how things were worked out when he knew full well that letter was a long time before she asked that of him. She gets even angrier when she learns Eric knew that Chloe had been threatened by the drug cartel. She can’t believe he still sat back and did nothing, and ultimately tells Eric she blames him for her loss, not Chloe. Then she leaves him alone and stunned after yelling that she doesn’t want to be around him.
