Days of Our Lives Recap Tuesday: Jack Hires Eve As Police Commissioner - Did Producers Make a Major Writing Gaffe?

The Days of Our Lives (DOOL)  recap for May 21 deals with secrets coming to light, a decision for Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering), and a possible bad day for Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson). If you missed the Days of Our Lives spoilers, let’s catch up on some highlights…

Days of Our Lives Recap Tuesday: Jack Hires Eve As Police Commissioner – Did Producers Make a Major Writing Gaffe?

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers: Secret exposed

Secrets are coming out today, as Claire Brady (Victoria Konefal) stops by to visit Rafe. She is shocked to learn about the upcoming divorce, which is what Rafe thought she wanted to talk about. She expresses her sympathy, then tells him what she really wanted. She explains that Lani Price (Sal Stowers) claimed David was ill and couldn’t be taken out of the house. He’s clearly surprised by this. Lani, of course, walks in just in time to overhear she’s been busted. This should get interesting…

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers: More trouble than it’s worth?

Lani’s lies aren’t Rafe’s only problem today. He gets a visit from the newly-elected Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford), who offers him the commissioner job. He’s shocked that Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) is getting fired, and seriously. We can’t. Why are these people so blinded to her incompetence? Maybe more of the PD needs to get cleaned out, because it is sort of incestuous. They clearly can’t be objective when a family member is the incompetent one in question.

Anyway, Rafe is not exactly jumping at the idea and we can’t blame him. Seeing Hope around town will be awkward enough after a divorce, so he really doesn’t need to take her job on top of it. Jack offers to let him think about it for a little bit, then leaves.

Days of Our Lives spoilers: Breakdown

Claire Brady (Olivia Rose Keegan) is on the warpath today, as she’s still smarting from Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) breaking up with her. She confronts Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva), blaming her for all her troubles. After all, Eve is the one that blackmailed Hayley Chen (Thia Megia) with that tape right in front of JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss). She’s furious, and thinks Eve doesn’t care about her at all. Eve tries to deny this, but just gets a threat from Claire in return. We’d point out that Claire’s idea of having Eve claim to have forced Claire into it when she’d already confessed all is idiotic, but the girl’s not exactly playing with a whole deck right now.

We see this even more later, as she and Tripp have it out again at the loft when he doesn’t accept her apology. Left alone to her own devices, she dumps a bunch of clothes on the ground, then douses them in fluid before pulling out a lighter. Poor Ben has chosen the wrong time to drop by as a favor to Ciara (she needed her phone charger), because he walks in on her standing over the soaked clothes. Run, Ben, run. You do not need to leave any trace of yourself there right now…

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers: First act

Jack, having clearly been turned down by Rafe over a phone message, has made his choice for the new commissioner, and he unveils that selection during his swearing in ceremony. After a speech about the ineptness of law enforcement in this town, he has decided to put Eve on the job. Can he even do this? Like, don’t you need a law enforcement background, because we haven’t heard of Eve having this. This could turn out to be a problem for #Cin.

Earlier in the episode, he and Eve came across each other pre-swearing in, and Eve lost it on him. She told him exactly what she thinks of him and his being in town, then actually attacks him. Of course, Jack only shows up in time to see the confrontation, and he is obviously going to take Eve’s side. He tells Ben to get lost unless he wants to be arrested. Given the position Eve is now in, this is going to be very bad for Ben. She’s ready to re-open the fire investigation, and who knows how this could be spun if Claire manages to pull a second pyro act at the loft.
