Your May 22 Days of Our Lives (DOOL) recap has everyone on edge about the new Commissioner in town, as well as some suspicions from Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson), and more trouble for our fleeing duo. In case you missed your Days of Our Lives spoilers, let’s get to the highlights.
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers: Are you kidding me?
The big story today is Eve Donovan’s (Kassie DePaiva) new position as commissioner of the Salem PD. Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves) speaks for us all when she asks if he’s kidding right now, then proceeds to question Eve’s fitness to be in charge of the cops, as she has no law enforcement experience. That’s what we thought. She also points out that Eve is more likely to commit a crime than stop one, to which we also have to agree. So true.

Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) isn’t taking the news well, either. He was checking on the lead regarding Hayley Chen (Thia Megia) and JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) with Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) when the official axe fell on her. Despite finding Tripp Dalton (Lucas Adams) in the hotel where JJ and Hayley supposedly were, and despite Eli still being employed, they decide to let Tripp go on his way. Later, Eli goes to the station and gets into it with Eve.
She wanted to know what’s going on with the Hayley situation, and can’t even when she learns that he didn’t think he had “probable cause” to bring Tripp in. He questions whether she even knows what that term means, and Eve warns him he’s being insubordinate. Seriously, is the entire force trying to get fired? They also have a couple of moments where Eve overhears him badmouthing her to Lani Price (Sal Stowers) and when he questions why she wants him to bring her the Cabin Fire file when he’d been told that JJ and Hayley were priority.
Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) is also upset about the new boss, and regretting having turned down the position. Hindsight’s always 20/20, isn’t it, Rafe?
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers: Liar, liar
Rafe is also annoyed about something else today: Lani’s lie to Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal). He allows Ciara to take a few pictures of the baby for Ben, but has to talk to Jordan Ridgeway (Chrishell Hartley) about any visitation. Ciara is happy for the victory, and thanks Rafe.
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers: Trouble for #Cin?
There are two problems today for the couple. One is Eve’s vendetta against Ben, and her determination to prove he started that fire. We’re starting to feel like Hope is back in charge again. Seriously, people. Have we ever heard of objectivity? Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) should never have given this much power to someone like Eve. Although, Ben may one day yet get a big, fat harassment settlement out of the deal.
The other problem is Claire Brady (Olivia Rose Keegan). After he walked in on her looking like she was about to torch Tripp’s clothes, Ben questions her. She claims she was just mad and getting ready to toss them out in the hall like trash, as he did to her. Ben actually sympathizes with her, which seems to take her by surprise. But given Claire’s recent behavior, we’re sure it won’t be too long until she snaps again. This time, she’ll definitely have a handy scapegoat, and someone in power with an axe to grind. We’re sure it’ll come to a head soon, because Ben is a bit disturbed by what he’d seen.

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers: On the run (still)
Hayley and Tripp get closer today as they hide at the Horton cabin in anticipation of a new life in Canada. Hayley gives him another chance to duck out on her, but he’s not budging. He tells her about how his own parents were on the run once, after Jack was convicted of murder. It was an accident, and the person turned out to be alive later, but he was still locked up and they still ran. Hayley can’t believe what she’s hearing, and JJ can’t believe how high and mighty his dad is, considering all the bad stuff in his own past. Okay, that part we can kind of side with, but can this st
