La Reina Del Sur 2 Recap 4/24/2019: Season 2, Episode 3 “Canta y no llores” – Sing, Don’t Cry
Today’s episode brings us back to Italy, where Siso Pernas (Miguel Ángel Blanco) and company have arrived at Teresa Mendoza’s (Kate del Castillo) house for their venganza. Pedro (Aitor Luna) is confused, because no one named Teresa lives there. The men rough him up and eventually force him to show some pictures of the Mexican named Maria who lives there. They confirm she’s Teresa and demand to know where she is, but he doesn’t know for sure.
Later, he’s forced to call Teresa, and Siso takes the phone, saying they have unfinished business. He demands to know where she is, or he’ll kill Pedro. They run out of patience fast, and tell her that she’s just killed her boyfriend. He then shoots Pedro while Teresa is still on the phone. To make it even worse, Siso informs authorities he just saw a woman kill some guy and run off, warning them that she’s dangerous. Damn. Looks like there is something to that whole “men who fall for her tend to die” thing after all.
The queen strikes
Teresa is still suspicious of Jonathon Peres (Tiago Correa) and obviously has a sixth sense, since she got a strange look, then hushed him before disrobing the guy. She feels him up, finally pulling his shirt back on. That’s when she discovers what she was looking for all along: a transmitter in his collar. She calls him and Willy Rangel (Christian Tappan) traitors, then orders him to leave her be.
Inside her room, she gets that phone call we mentioned earlier, which obviously makes her mood much better. She calls somewhere looking for Oleg Yasikov (Antonio Gil) before heading out. Jonathon tries to follow and plead his case, but she ain’t listening. She threatens to put a hole in him if he doesn’t back off, then takes off to think things through.
While she’s out, she’s approached by a woman in a hood (Manuela, played by Paola Núñez) who holds a gun on her and orders her to walk. When asked who she is, Manuela introduces herself as “Lady Justice” and says she sentenced Teresa to death nine years ago over her sister. Teresa has no clue who she’s talking about, and they end up in a long fight through the Mexican streets, a club, and a marketplace before Teresa finally gets the advantage.
She learns that the girl’s sister is someone named Lupita, which Teresa says was an accident. Teresa manages to escape, and Manuela goes back to the place where Teresa lost her gun and retrieves it. Later, by the way, we see Manuela pretend to be home and working out when Jonathon calls to check in.

After almost getting killed by yet another enemy in what’s obviously a mountain of them, Teresa takes initiative. She plants a bomb in the car Willy and Jonathon are using, which Jonathon has the bad luck to sit on. When they hear the noise, Willy gets out and checks the back seat, where a timer is already counting down. He calls Teresa, the only one who knew about their car, and she cheerfully asks who the winner was. He informs her that Jonathon is sitting on the trigger, and wants to know how to disarm the bomb.
She marvels at the awesome work the Russians do (especially on bombs with no way to stop them) and what a fast learner she is. She gives them one wire to cut for free, but demands info for the rest. Once she’s confirmed that no one else was told about their trip to see her, and that Manuela likely figured things out and planted the transmitter (plus totally working them into a panic), she gives them the last wire with seconds to spare. Only it wasn’t a real bomb. She got the watch he sat on at a market for 200 pesos. Ha! Between this, and her “blah, blah, blah” response to them at one point during this whole ordeal, we love her even more.
By the way, César “Batman” Güemes (Alejandro Calva) has been following her this whole time, watching her carefully. How soon until she clues in? We’ll have to wait until Friday to see. Billboard awards are taking the show off for the night. Knowing Teresa? She is probably already aware.

Igualita a su mama
As if Teresa’s trolling of Willy and Jonathon wasn’t enough, Sofia Dantes (Isabella Sierra) decided to get in on the action. She spies on her captors while they talk about all the havoc Sofia has already brought, overhearing Morgana (Norma Angélica) say she only fears the dead.
The next morning, she remembers this conversation when Morgana comes in and starts hassling her to get up and brush her teeth. Sofia starts talking to and hugging air, which makes Morgana thinks Sofia’s lost it. Sofia then very casually says she’s talking to her father, who Morgana can’t see because he’s dead. Morgana clearly is spooked and calls Sofia possessed before hurrying out of the room. The trolling gene in this pool is strong, man.
Also of note, Francesco Belmondo (Raoul Bova)—using the name Cayetana Segovia (Luisa Gavasa) knows him by—turns down her job offer, telling her she’s lucky she’s not being reported right now. She’s not worried, though, because Siso is still on the job and is sure “the Mexican” as they call her is on her way to Spain under a fake name. He’s going to let her know as soon as he takes care of things. She says she’ll be waiting, because once Teresa is dead, she’ll hold a mass to put her son’s spirit to rest.
