As a matter of fact, she’s got a huge secret that is about to come to light in the coming weeks. The actress says that while she loves playing such a challenging character that is involved in a very intense storyline, she also works hard to make sure she gets each and every line right. Here’s what she has to say.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Katelyn MacMullen Opens Up About Giving Willow Tate The Best She’s Got
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Katelyn admits that General Hospital is her first daytime television show. And because filming between each episode happens so fast, Katelyn knows that she has to always be on her toes. That’s why she hired an acting coach and a daytime vet to help her with her role as Willow.

“My coach, Holly Gagnier [ex-Jennifer Smith, GH; ex-Cassie, ONE LIFE TO LIVE et al], I work with her one-on-one on basically everything I go in for,” MacMullen notes. “She has a history with soap operas and she kind of explained to me what needed to be done and how so much goes into these auditions, because it’s very heavy material.”
The actress also says that she continues to give it her all, with each and every scene that she’s in. Not only does she want to do her best work, but she also wants to leave her General Hospital fans wanting more. And so far, it seems like her formula is working!
“Those were my first big scenes with Josh [Swickard, Chase],” she recalls. “I always go to Holly because she has so much experience when it comes to this stuff, and Josh ended up coming with me to work on the scenes. We just kind of had this sit-down with Holly and talked to her and worked on the connection between us, just focusing on each other and trying to fill in every moment we could — and mostly just having fun, too! We were so excited to film that.”
