‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Jess Walton Explains Her Absence.
Walton has played Jill Abbott for the past 31 years and she loves her job. She said not many people have a job that when she needs to spend time at home, their boss arranges it. If she wants to work, they arrange that, too. But that is the reality for her. A few years ago, she told CBS that she wanted to work less and stay home more in Oregon. They respected her wishes and scheduled her for just a few short arcs. Then, last year, she told showrunner Mal Young that she needed to spend time with her sick husband, John James. He supported her decision. However, he’s better now and she wants to get back to working much more often.
It’s official – The Young and the Restless has been the #1 daytime drama for 30 years, and that’s all because of YOU! 👏 We know how amazing the #YR fans are and want to thank each and every one of you for tuning in weekdays on @CBS. Our cast and crew ❤️ you! pic.twitter.com/adiCEshGDT

The ‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Working with Tristan Rogers
In 2011, Tristan Rogers joined the cast as Colin. Jess knew that when they paired her with scam artist Colin that her run on Y&R could be at risk. A few years later, Colin was let go and she couldn’t help getting angry about it. Walton said that Colin and Jill hadn’t been on the show in a few months and they hadn’t had a good storyline for over a year. She felt offended that CBS would let such a great actor like Rogers go.
Walton considered retiring and not coming back ever again.
She went to the Y&R showrunners and she asked for six months off. They agreed to her terms and they told her she can come back anytime. Young explained to Jess that the audience loves Jill and he would love to put her in as many storylines as she is willing. Now, Jess is ready to come back to her second home. She cannot wait to let the audience to see what is next for her alter ego Jill Atkinson. Are you glad the viewers will see more of Jill in 2019? Don’t forget to come back for more The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers, news, and casting updates!
